Mission Statement
The mission of the Houma Regional Arts Council is to promote and provide
cultural activities, through a partnership of public and private
funding, which meets the needs of our individual communities.
Purpose
The Houma Regional Arts Council, located upstairs in the Bayou Terrebonne Waterlife Museum,
supports a number of programs designed to enhance the arts and to make
them accessible to everyone in Terrebonne Parish. Through the Louisiana
Decentralized Arts Funding Program grants and the Terrebonne Parish Arts
Funding Program, the arts council provides over $85,000 in direct
monetary support to artists and organizations in Terrebonne Parish and
is responsible for administering the over $102,000 in Decentralized
funds in Assumption, Lafourche, St. John the Baptist, St. James and St.
Charles.
In addition to providing assistance to artists and organizations, the Houma Regional Arts Council provides programs such as the ArtSense Summer Visual Arts Camp, visual & performing arts shows, art workshops, artist lectures, grant writing workshops, an Outdoor Movie Series and a newsletter including a cultural calendar of events for Terrebonne Parish.
